Celebrating the life of
Michael George (Mick) Pappas
July 15, 1948 - December 11, 2025
Michael George “Mick” Pappas, beloved husband, father, brother, uncle, and friend, passed away peacefully on December 11, 2025, at the age of 77. Born on July 15, 1948, in Joliet, Illinois, Mick was the cherished son of George and Irene Pappas, who preceded him in death. He leaves behind a legacy of love and laughter that will resonate through the hearts of all who knew him.
Mick spent his entire adult life on Tybee Island, a place that held a special place in his heart. He dedicated over 40 years of his life to his beloved wife, Marianne. Their marriage was a testament to resilience and partnership, filled with laughter and companionship. Mick was a devoted family man, survived by his wife, Marianne; his stepmother, Athena; his sons, Julian and Brendan; their wives, Scarlett and Monique; and his stepdaughter, Jessica. He was also a devoted brother to Barb and an adoring uncle to his niece, Marisha. Mick's grandchildren, Nico, Luca, Scarlet, and Phoenix, brought immense joy to his life, and he delighted in every moment spent with them.
Throughout his life, Mick was known for his sardonic wit and infectious love of life, which drew people to him. He had an unparalleled ability to find humor in the everyday, often leaving those around him in fits of laughter. His interests were as eclectic as his personality; he found joy in the simplest things—remote controls, food storage, extension cords, swimming, bread making, and the timeless melodies of The Beach Boys. Mick’s playful spirit was matched only by his passion for sharing those moments with family and friends.
Mick truly embodied the spirit of a Renaissance man! His impactful work with the State of Georgia supported adolescents during tough moments, while his delightful children's books and parent guides offered invaluable support to families everywhere. He possessed a rare ability to connect with people, making them feel valued and understood, and his legacy of love and laughter will remain in the hearts of all who knew him.
Funeral services will be held at the Fox & Weeks Funeral Directors, Islands Chapel on Monday, December 15, 2025, at 10 a.m., with a visitation from 9 to 10 a.m. His family and friends will also gather for a Celebration of Life on the weekend of January 15, 2026 - details will be provided soon.
As we bid farewell to Mick, we remember him not only for his humor and charm but also for the profound impact he had on our lives. He taught us to cherish every moment and to find joy in the little things. While he may no longer walk among us, his spirit will forever remain in our hearts. Rest in peace, dear Mick—your laughter will echo in our memories, and your love will guide us always.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Hospice Savannah.

I remember Mick from our days growing up in Joliet and attending All Saints Greek Orthodox church there. I graduated high school with his sister Barb. Mick was always laughing, joyous and joking around. He was a very positive human being. God bless his soul and condolences go out to his entire family. May his memory be eternal.
